Adoptees of Chicago is proud to host socials for teen adoptees to meet other teen adoptees and build lasting friendships. Whether it’s a movie night or an afternoon at the zoo, our teen socials are meant to be a fun, relaxed place for adoptees to socialize. While parents are welcome to socialize nearby, this is a teen’s opportunity to spend time with other teen adoptees. We hope that Adoptees of Chicago is one place where teens can find connections and feel less alone in their experiences.
"Adoptees of Chicago has been a really great experience for me! It's allowed me to connect with other adoptees which is really unique because even though we have no history together, we have such an important life event in common. The entire group is extremely welcoming and I felt like a part of the family in minutes." - Aliyah I, Teen
Young Adult (18-30)
Adoptees of Chicago welcomes young professionals and young adults to join in a casual weekend outing with other fellow young adult adoptees. The reason for an older age restriction is to allow room for “mature” topics to be had within a setting of peers. Examples of appropriate ‘mature’ topics can range from dating and relationships to workplace experiences or sharing what it’s like as an adoptee in college/higher education.
"Being a part of Adoptees of Chicago has been really fun and meaningful. It’s so important for me to connect with other international adoptees and cultivate deep friendships with them. To be able to meet up with adoptees across Chicagoland through this program has been truly special and fulfilling." - Kenai C, Young Adult
